All about Japanese TV ads. The good, the bad and the I-don’t-know-what-happened. The one thing I like about Japanese commercials is … well , how bizarre they can be. While I’ve been in the advertising industry all my life (well, since I graduate that is) I try to link it back to the theories my professors have enlightened me with. But I guess sometimes, even the most culturally sensitive neurotransmitter in me has to acknowledge that Japanese commercials simply refutes all common senses.
Slice Cheese (Strike Witches Opening – Limited Edition)
I’ve been watching Strike Witches and find the OP song (Watashi ni Dekiru Koto by Ishida Youko) a “power-up” especially at the start of a school/work day. Did some curious runs through YouTube and found this sliced cheese made from a string of over 2000 shots, in just 12 days! Loved the way the “Slice Cheese” pun was added into the scene at the time stamp of 0.27 and the Gundam fight scenes are just way too smooth! Comes with gunfire and smoke!.
I tried to do something like this with Evangelion’s OP on Flash some many years back but it turned out to be a total failure. This 3D version is way cooler!
You know it’s Summer here in Tokyo when suddenly the whole state’s super hyped up about festivals. Japan itself boosts quite a number of festivals yearly and the heat of summer ain’t gonna stop the locals from some sort of celebration.
I was blessed enough to attend a few of these festivals and experience some traditional local culture in my short weeks here.
Bandai Hobby created this pretty cool site to host this awesome Phase Impulse MG Edition video to entice purchases. They’ll show you loads of cool pix and make you drool but its only download-able FOC to buyers from May 24th – August 31 2008 in Japan. But some kind soul has decided to share the wonder and thus the saying. . .”Good Things MUST Share!”
Okok I know its corny. -.-!Just Enjoy
It’s better if you watch Part One before you click on the big play arrow.
Part two of Dead Fantasy (actually that’s the name of the video) is finally out! Back in October last year we’ve posted about this orsum video by Monty Oum that literally gave me a whopping jaw drop and ripped my eyes out with its mind blowing render of action kicks. It was revealed that there would be 5 episodes altogether Ψ(`∇´)Ψ. While part one ended with a cliff hanger when Tifa came to the rescue, part two had that FF chick in sizzling bicycle hot pants’ make an appearance (and a face) too! Didn’t know her to be erm that powerful though. As usual, no scratch, no messy hair & no friction on their shoes! Makes me wanna be a game babe too! Well anyway, let’s just cut to the chase and click away cos part two is just equally exaggerating! (-.-)!

Ok this has been sitting in my drafts for the longest time and the high quality video that Mervyn so kind heartedly, encoded has became sorta stale by the time I got to hitting the “Publish” button. Anyhow da new arcade game indeed brings back tonnes of memories. I remember spending after school hours at the arcade just busy whacking buttons and I was so head over heels in lurve with *my hubby Akuma and his super Blackout special. (Oooh I hope he’s back!).
Sitting under the umbrella ella ella ella (sorry I JUST had to do that in “tribute” to Rihanna) are the three titles – FFXIII, FF Versus XIII, and FF Agito XIII. The former two for the PS3 platform & the latter for mobile phones. So I reckon there’s no more budget left for the PSP *cry*

For those who haven’t heard, Dante’s back to kick some ass and level up in the Public Relations department after a much disappointing anime (in my most humble opinion). Anyway the opening sequence’s quite an earful. I like its cinematic effects though I’m not exactly a big fan of opera :3

Another reason why I simply lurve Japan! The cho kawaii 美媚 (prounce mei mei, which is a Chinese slang for moe imouto chans) greeting you from your desktop is really an OS-tan. Apparently, these originated from the Futaba Channel – one of Japan’s most popular internet forum that deals in otaku culture; and competitor to 2Channel.
